Built in 1950, by RTC Shipbuilding of Camden, New Jersey (hull #197) as the Resolute for the Baker Whiteley Towing Company of Baltimore, Maryland.

In 1980, the Barker Whiteley Towing Company was acquired by McAllister Towing of New York, New York. Where the tug was renamed as the David McAllister.

The tug however was later renamed as the Resolute, by McAllister Towing before she was placed out of service.

The tug was later acquired by Patriot Marine of Winthrop, Massachusetts. Where she was renamed as the Ocean King.

She was a single screw tug rated at 1,800 horsepower.
