MISTER FRED

Built in 1975, by Halter Marine Services Incorporated of New Orleans, Louisiana (hull #452) as the Mister Fred for the Jackson Marine Corporation of Houston, Texas.

The Jackson Marine Corporation was owned by the Halliburton Corporation of Houston, Texas. The company owned a total of ninety vessels. Consisting mainly of offshore tugs, and supply vessels. With some chemical transport and well stimulation vessels.

In 1985, Zapata Marine Service, Gulf Fleet Marine Incorporated, and Jackson Marine Services merged to form Zapata Gulf Marine Service Incorporated of Houston, Texas.

In 1986, Seahorse Marine Incorporated of Lockport, Louisiana merged into the Zapata Gulf Marine Company adding an additional ninety vessels to the fleet.

In 1992, Zapata Gulf Marine Incorporated merged with Tidewater Marine Incorporated of New Orleans, Louisiana. Where the tug retained her name.

In 2002, she was acquired by Newport Petroleum Incorporated of Signal Hill, California. Where the tug was renamed as the Sterling V.

In 2003, the tug was acquired by the Foss Maritime Company of Seattle, Washington. Where she was renamed as the Clayton Foss.

In 2005, The tug was acquired by the SeaCoast Transportation Company of Seattle, Washington. Where she was renamed as the Pacific Wolf.

In 2007, the SeaCoast Transportation Company was acquired by the K-Sea Transportation Partnership Incorporated of East Brunswick, New Jersey. Where the tug retained her name.

In 2008, she was outfitted with an upper wheelhouse. As well as, a JAK-400 coupler system.

In 2011, the K-Sea Transportation Partnership Incorporated was acquired by the Kirby Corporation of Channelview, Texas. Where the tug retained her name.

In 2022, the tug was acquired by Dawn Offshore Services Incorporated of Gretna, Louisiana. Where she was renamed as the Arctic Dawn.

Powered by two, twelve cylinder, Alco 251C MS/MR diesel engines. Turning two bronze, fixed pitch propellers. She is a twin screw tug, rated at 4,100 horsepower.

Her electrical service is provided by two, 159kW generator sets. The tug's capacities are are 110,000 gallons of fuel.
