JOAN TURECAMO (1980)
Built in 1980, by Matton Shipyard of Cohes, New York (hull #344) as the Joan Turecamo for the Turecamo Coastal and Harbor Towing Corporation of New York, New York.
In 1998, the Turecamo Coastal and Harbor Towing Corporation was acquired by the Moran Towing Corporation of New Canaan, Connecticut. Where the tug retained her name.
Powered by two, sixteen cylinder, EMD 16-645-E6 diesel engines. With Falk 2435 reverse/reduction gears. Turning two Coolidge, three bladed, stainless steel propellers. She is a twin screw tug, rated at 4,300 horsepower.
The tug's capacities are 57,300 gallons of fuel. The tug's towing gear consists of an Almon Johnson 229 towing winch. And, a New England Trawler X1524 electro hydraulic capstan.
