She was the second Ruth class FACETTUG tug designed by Robert Hill of Ocean Tug and Barge Engineering for the Reinauer Transportation Companies.
The design represented a new concept in tug design. The FACETTUG class's hull shape is designed to allow installation of double skin fuel tanks in small vessels easier.
Powered by two, MTU 16v-4000 M60 diesel engines. With Lufkin RS2850HG reduction gears, at a ratio of 7.5:1. Turning two, three bladed, NAUTICAN 104(in) propellers, mounted in NAUTICAL nozzles. With triple shutter rudders, for a rated 4,000 horsepower.
The tug is fitted with an INTERcon C coupler system, with two 34(in) diameter pins. Her electrical service is provided by three, 99 kW John Deere generator sets, with Marathon electric ends. One generator is dedicated to the INTERcon coupler system. Her capacities are 87,440 gallons of fuel, 1,664 gallons of hydraulic oil, 5,811 gallons of lube oil, and 17,171 gallons of water.
