Built in 1894, John H. Dialogue and Son of Camden, New Jersey (hull #332) as the William F. McCauley for the Propeller Towboat Company of Savannah, Georgia.

On April 13th, 1918 the tug was acquired by the United States Navy. And, commissioned the same day. Where she was designated as SP-2360 (William F. McCauley). And allocated to the 12th Naval District at San Francisco, California.

On November 26th, 1918 she was struck from the Naval Register and was returned to Propeller Towboat Company of Savannah, Georgia. Where she retained her name.

In 1942, the tug was acquired by the Atlantic Towing Company of Savannah, Georgia. Where she retained her name.

In 1948, the Atlantic Towing Company renamed the tug as the Captain Collier.

In 1963, she was acquired by the Marine Contracting and Towing Company of Charleston, South Carolina. Where the tug was renamed as the Samuel A. Guilds.

In 1969, the tug was acquired by the McAllister Brothers Towing Company of New York, New York. Where she retained her name.

In 1994, she was acquired by Great Link Incorporated. Where the tug retained her name.

In 1999, the tug went out of documentation. Her current, and or final disposition is unknown.

Powered by a single, steam engine turning a single, fixed pitch propeller. She was a single screw tug, rated at 640 horsepower.
