Built in 1974, by Marine Industries Incorporated of Amelia, Louisiana as the OU 302 for Williams, Sedco, Horn Constructors Corporation of Houston, Texas.

The tug was built for a 1975 for pipeline project in Peru. In 1978, the tug was brought back to the United States.

In 1978, she was acquired by American Tugs Incorporated of Harvey, Louisiana. Where the tug was renamed as the John 3:8.

In 1982, the tug was acquired by Allied Towing Service Incorporated of Venice, Louisiana. Where she was renamed as the Jason Ray.

In 1984, she was acquired by the Saint Towing Company Incorporated of Harvey, Louisiana. Where she was renamed as the A.E. Jones.

In 1986, the tug was burned in a fire at Belle Chasse, Louisiana. The burnt hull was stripped and was left dormant.

In 1999, she was acquired by Perry and Son Towing Incorporated of Harvey, Louisiana. Where the tug was rebuilt, and renamed as the Perry Sue.

In 2006, the tug was acquired by Turn Services LLC. of New Orleans, Louisiana. Where the tug was renamed as the Whirlway.

In 2022, she was acquired by Myrick Marine Contracting Corporation of Savannah, Georgia. Where the tug was renamed as Lona Myrick.

Repowered in 1999, she is driven by two Caterpillar 3412 diesel engines. With two, 68(in) by 63(in), stainless steel, fixed pitch propellers. She is a twin screw towboat, rated at 1,500 horsepower.

Her electrical service is provided by two, Cummins Generator sets. The tug's capacities are 13,800 gallons of fuel, and 6,000 gallons of potable water.
