SPARTAN (2022)

Built in 2022, by Master Boat Builders Incorporated of Coden, Alabama (hull #466) as the Spartan for SeaBulk Towing Services Incorporated of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

The tug is the first of two hybrid diesel-electric vessels commissioned from Master Boat Builders.

In 2023, the tug was acquired by the Bay Houston Towing Company of Houston, Texas. Where she retained her name.

Powered by two, Tier IV, compliant Caterpillar 3512E Diesel engines. As part of her electric-hybrid system, the tug has two propulsion motors and associated variable frequency drives. With two Berg MTA 628 z-drives She is a twin screw tug, rated at 5,000 horsepower.

The tug's electrical service is provided by two 565kW Caterpillar C18 generator sets, and one 200 kW Caterpillar C7.1 generator set. The tug's capacities are 47,679 gallons of fuel, 5,087 gallons of fresh water, 243 gallons of lube oil, and 2,600 gallons of diesel exhaust fluid.

The tug's towing equipment consists of one JonRie Series 225 double drum winch, on the bow, and a JonRie Series 424 hydraulic capstan on the stern.
