Built in 1974, by Main Iron Works Incorporated of Houma, Louisiana (hull #277) as the Nita T. for Nolty J. Theriot Offshore Incorporated of Golden Meadow, Louisiana.

In 1997, the tug was acquired by Martin Midstream Partnership Incorporated of Vidor, Texas. Where she was renamed as the La Force.

In 2010, the tug was outfitted with a Bludworth coupler system. And "married" with the 350(ft) long, 55,000(bbls) tank barge, the M 6000. Which was constructed by Bollinger Marine Fabricators, LLC. of Amelia, Louisiana in 2010 for Martin Midstream Partnership Incorporated of Vidor, Texas.

Powered by two, EMD 16-645-E5 diesel engines. With Lufkin reduction gears, at ratio of 4.98:1. Turning two, cast steel, fixed pitch propellers. She is a twin screw tug, fitted with kort nozzles rated at 5,100 horsepower.

The tug's capacities are 184,000 gallons of fuel oil, 5,086 gallons of lube oil, and 14,244 gallons of potable water.
