Built in 1980, by the Louis G. Ortis Boat Company Krotz Springs, Louisiana (hull #107) as the Miss Norma for JNT Fleet Incorporated of Metairie, Louisiana.

In 1987, the tug was acquired by the Barge Transport Company Incorporated of Houston, Texas. Where she was renamed as the Jo Ann Edwards.

In 1997, she was acquired by Martin Gas Marine Incorporated of Houston, Texas. Where the tug retained her name.

In 2003, the tug was chartered to the Tenn-Tom Towing Company of Mobile, Alabama. Where she retained her name.

In 2006, she was returned to Martin Midstream Partnership Incorporated of Vidor, Texas. Where the tug retained her name.

Powered by two, GM 12V-71 diesel engines, with Twin Disc reduction gears, at ratio of 6:1. She is a twin screw towboat, rated at 800 horsepower.
