Built in 1974, by the C.F. Bean Corporation of Plaquemine, Louisiana as the Friendly Joe for the Wallo Towing Company of Pensacola, Florida.

1977, the tug was acquired by the Belcher Towing Company of Tampa, Florida. Where she was renamed as the Mame Belcher.

In 1990, the Belcher Towing Company was acquired by the Coastal Tug and Barge Company of Miami, Florida. Where she was renamed as the Coastal Nueces.

In 2003, the tug was acquired by the Tesoro Marine Services Company of Houston, Texas. Where she was remanded as the Tesoro Captain.

In 2013, she was acquired by Martin Midstream Partnership Incorporated of Vidor, Texas. Where the tug was renamed as the Martin Captain.

She is a twin screw towboat, rated at 1,050 horsepower.
