Built in 2012 by John Bludworth Shipyard at Corpus Christi, Texas (hull #139) as the Timothy W. LaQuay for T.W. LaQuay Marine of Port Lavaca, Texas.

In 2017, the tug was acquired by Cenac Marine Services Incorporated of Houma, Louisiana. Where she was renamed as the Tommy Cenac.

In 2019, the Cenac Towing Company was acquired by the Kirby Corporation of Channelview, Texas. Where the tug was renamed as the Timbalier Bay.

Powered by two, Cat 3512C III diesel engines. Twin Disc reduction gears, at a ratio of 5.04:1. Turning two, stainless steel, fixed pitch propellers. She is a twin screw towboat, rated at 2,600 horsepower.

Her electrical service is provided by John Deere 6068TFM generator sets.
