Built in 1979, by Allied Shipyard Incorporated of LaRose, Louisiana (hull #155) as the American Quest American Workboats Incorporated of Honolulu, Hawaii.
In 2007, the tug was acquired by the K-Sea Transportation Partnership Incorporated of East Brunswick, New Jersey. Where she was renamed as the Chukchi Sea.
In 2011, the K-Sea Transportation Partnership Incorporated was acquired by the Kirby Corporation of Channelview, Texas. Where the tug retained her name.
In 2014, she was acquired by Delta Western Incorporated of Anchorage, Alaska. Where the tug retained her name.
In 2017, the tug was acquired by the Foss Maritime Company subsidiary the Cook Inlet Tug and Barge Company of Anchorage, Alaska. Where the tug retained her name.
Powered by three, Caterpillar 3412 diesel engines. With Reintjes reduction gears at a ratio of 6:1. Turning one, Bird Johnson, 5(ft) 6(in) diameter, fixed pitch, four bladed propeller. Mounted in a Type 37 kort nozzle. As well as two, Bird Johnson, 5(ft) 10(in) diameter propellers, mounted in tunnels. She is a triple screw tug, rated at 2,250 horsepower.
Her electrical service is provided by two, 30kW, GM 3-71 diesel engines. The tug's capacities are 45,000 gallons of fuel, 25 gallons of hydraulic oil, 465 gallons of lube oil, and 7,640 gallons of water.
The towing equipment consists of a double drum, Markey towing winch. Outfitted with 2,000(ft) of 2(in) towing wire in each drum.
