Built in 2000, by Dakota Creek Industries of Anacortes, Washington (hull #38) as the Alert for Crowley Marine Services.
She was the first Alert class tug built for Crowley Maritime.
Powered by two Caterpillar 3612 B diesel engines with Ulstein Azmuthing "z drives" for a rated 10,192 horsepower.
The Alert class is a general purpose Prevention and Response Tug. These tugs are equipped for firefighting, emergency response and oil spill recovery. The vessels have oil spill recovery and storage capability for up to 43,000 gallons of recovered oil. Design features include accommodations for up to 16 personnel, Schuyler fendering, a Markey TDS-40 towing winch, Step Warmfloor heated decking, 2,000 feet of oil recovery boom, and on-deck stowage for two oil spill recovery skiffs.
