Built in 1981, by Fisherman Marine Shipyard Incorporated of Bayou LaBatre, Alabama as the Inland Tug II for Gulf Towing and Transportation Incorporated of Panama City, Florida.

In 1984, the tug was sold. Where she was renamed as the Mama Bear.

In 1990, she was sold. And was renamed as the Howard A. Thompson.

In 1994, the tug was acquired by Coastal Towing Incorporated of Houston, Texas. Where she was renamed as the Golda Pickett.

In 2003, she was acquired by Eckstein Marine Services of Jefferson, Louisiana. A division of the Marquette Transportation Company of Jefferson, Louisiana. Where the tug was renamed as the Susan Frances.

In 2007, the tug was transferred to the Marquette Transportation Company of Jefferson, Louisiana. Where she retained her name.

Re powered in 2003, she is powered by two, Caterpillar 3412 diesel engines. With Twin Disc reduction gears, at a ratio of 7:1. She is a twin screw towboat, rated at 1,250 horsepower.
