Built in 1975, by McDermott Shipyard of Morgan City, Louisiana (hull #204) as the Pioneer for Crowley Marine Services of Seattle, Washington.

She was the seventh Invader class tug built for Crowley Marine Services by McDermott Shipyard.

Powered by two EMD 20-645-EG main engines with Falk reduction gears at a ratio of 4.345:1 turning two five bladed, stainless steel, fixed pitch propellers for a rated 7,200 horsepower.

Her electrical service is provided by two Caterpillar D 3304 generators. the tug's capacities are 155,000 gallons of fuel oil, 15,000 gallons of potable water, and 3,300 gallons of lube oil.

The tug's towing equipment consists of a Markey TDSDW 36C double drum towing machine outfitted with 3,000(ft) of 2.75(in) wire on each drum. Her emergency towing gear consists of 450(ft) of 7(in) Spectra SK-75.

In 2012, the tug was acquired by Capital Oil and Gas Industries of Lagos, Nigeria. Where the tug retained her name.
