Breakwater Marine LLC. was founded in 2022 when the company acquired the Breakwater Marine Construction Company of Oyster Bay, New York. The company was formed as division of Posillico Civil of Farmingdale, New York.

Posillico Civil was incorporated in 1946, Joseph D. Posillico, Sr. Originally founded as a small trucking contractor, the company grew to become an engineering contracting company.

Posillico has completed many large civil engineering and construction projects. The company also provides such services as civil, materials, environmental, paving, drilling, utilities, development and consulting services.
