UMPQUA RIVER NAVIGATION COMPANY

The Umpqua River Navigation Company began business in the mid-19th Century with a steam-powered sternwheel ferry on the Umpqua River in western Oregon. They gradually moved into general towing and sand and gravel operations before diversifying into heavy construction in 1960.

In 1970 the company was acquired as a division of Bohemia Incorporated, a lumber firm from Eugene, Oregon. In 1990, Bohemia Incorporated and its subsidiaries were liquidated.
